Description

My client, a global CRO is actively recruiting for a Business Development Manager/Director to join the team, this role reports to the Global Head of Business Development and is responsible for the following tasks.
Business Development

  • Putting into practice telephone contact strategies to generate new business opportunities.
  • Preparing weekly a list of potential and current clients to contact in a continuous manner
  • Carefully following the creation of RFP (request for proposal) production by colleagues and acting as the reference person for potential clients during the whole process;
  • Visiting clients and accurately and professionally introducing the activities of the company and participating in industry events by meeting potential clients and actively presenting the company services;
  • Researching and developing relationships with potential clients, organizing, planning and preparing meetings, conference calls, demos among the decision-makers of potential clients and the company;
  • Providing feedback to requests for information received by the company and will undertake actions to establish a business relationship based on the needs of the requestor;
  • Facilitating the meeting and dialogue between the various client managers and the company, keeping in contact with potential client during the process of client acquisition, respecting the timing for communication and customer management;
  • Working with the various internal teams to develop proposals concerning the needs and objectives of potential customers;
  • Negotiating and appropriately convincing the potential clients;

Customer portfolio maintenance

  • Arranging and participating in briefings with clients and partners;
  • Identifying the development of business opportunities on existing clients (upselling or cross-selling);
  • Presenting all the relevant services, proposing and developing sales materials in collaboration with the relevant company departments;
  • Developing and organizing the negotiation of contracts with client already in the portfolio and defining, under the instructions of the manager, new commercial offers;
  • Periodically monitoring client satisfaction, taking note and sharing with the company management a periodic report (customer satisfaction paper);

Business Planning Development

  • Identifying, using market and competitor knowledge, the opportunities that will lead to increase sales, planning the various activities, identifying the priorities for actions to achieve sales targets;
  • Generating a “pipeline” of sales to meet the annual growth targets agreed with the manager;
  • Updating in real time the Global Head of Business Development on any development in the market
  • Reporting, in a timely, accurate and detailed manner, the feedback received from the Client on the submitted proposal;
  • Monitoring the revenue of projects by promptly reporting any deviations;
  • Making forecasts on sales targets and, controlling them by geographical area and typology of service;
  • Proposing pricing, positioning, and sales strategies.

General tasks

  • Studying and updating the technical aspects needed to fulfil the tasks assigned;
  • Checking the time usage of the entrusted team, verifying their formal and substantial consistency and evaluating all positive and negative consequences of their professional behaviour. Optimizing and rationalizing time usage to guarantee the effectiveness of the work;
  • Ensuring the timely compilation of the activity tracking and attendance detection systems;
  • Ensuring compliance with the rules, regulations, and agreements concerning confidentiality and privacy in the performance of the entrusted task, promptly reporting any deviations;
  • Organizing work activities in all cases when the actions can be executed independently. Defining priorities and managing workloads deriving from unexpected events;
  • Contributing to the management and development of SOPs related to the activities in which you are involved;
  • Scheduling visits by direct reports and colleagues with less experience and supporting them in the visits, carrying out coaching activities, giving feedback, and evaluating employees.

Key Requirements

  • Life Science Degree (Bachelors degree or above)
  • Experience working within a Clinical Research Organisation
  • Needs to know about Clinical Development Phase I to Phase IV
  • Needs to have BD experience within a life sciences organisation
  • Capable of doing cold calling and developing a market from scratch
  • Independent in discussing proposals and managing Clients from the first contact to contract signature
